Redundancy Help File
Configure Redundancy
Click Add Ons/Redundancy
or Ctrl+r
Step 1.

Device Tag : Any name that reflects the device
use, office, departement. As you wish.
Security Key : Use upper, lower case letters and
digits. Or double click the text box. This will generate a 12
character random string.
Position : Can be either Master or Backup.
Propagation of configurations are one way only. MASTER to BACKUP(S).
No MASTER to MASTER No BACKUP(S) to BACKUP(S).
Priority : Use a higher number for the MASTER
and lower digits for the BACKUPS. The BACKUP device with the
highest number will be the one that will take over in case the
MASTER is unavailable.
Note : You must connect to the MASTER
device for any change in your configurations. All configurations
will auto propagate to all the BACKUP devices within a second or so.
Do not do configurations on BACKUP devices. Your configurations will
be over writen by the MASTER device.
Step 2.

Device Interface : Use the last configuered Lan
interface or the DMZ interface. Unless you know what your doing and
very well know your Lan.
Virtual IP : The IP that the device will respond
to as MASTER and BACKUP. This is a second IP address that will be
added to the address that you have connected to. All MASTER and
BACKUP(S) devices must have that same address.
Email From : Can be any address, make it self
explainatory. ie:
Resieve@yourdomain.com. The email address does not need to
exist.
Email To : This is your email address that you
read several times a day. It also can be sent to your cell phone as
SMS. Your cell phone number including the area code. ie:
1234567890@bell.ca. Note
that in Canada the cell phone companies does NOT include the service
Email-to-SMS. You have to ask them to activate it. By doing so, your
provider will invoice you for this service. Not sure? Ask your
provider.

Note : Adding email address to redundancy will send you
notifications to that email address when ever a device changes
status. ie: If the MASTER device goes down, the BACKUP device
with the highest priority will take over and send you an email that
it has become the MASTER. When the real MASTER comes back online
you will recieve 2 emails. The MASTER is up and running and the
BACKUP device that had taken over as MASTER has returned to its
original BACKUP state. Unless the BACKUP device goes down and is
not reachable on the network, this device will notify you as a
status change and become unknown. Time has come to take a look at
it.
Step 3. (optional, if needed by Smtp server)

Fill in these info only if your email server needs a sender
authentication. If this is the case, check "SMTP server requires
authentication".
Smtp Server : this can be any email server of
your choice, including but not limited to Gmail, Outook, Gmx, you
name it, we use it.
Port No : The default port is 110, but many web
based email server will use port 587.(startTls)
Auth Name : If using a email server such as
Gmail or Gmx, your authentication name will be your full email
address such as,
YouName@Gmail.com
SSL/TLS and StartTls : Use an encryption type.
This will change from server to server. Ask for what type it takes
to connect.
Gmail: Check, SMTP server requires
authentication Smtp server : pop.gmail.com Port No : 587
Password : Your Gmail password Auth Name : Your-Name@Gmail.com
Encryption : StartTls
Gmx : Check, SMTP server requires
authentication Smtp server : pop.gmx.com Port No : 587
Password : Your Gmx password Auth Name : Your-Name@Gmx.com
Encryption : StartTls

Step 4, last step.

Backup IP : The IP address(es) to which the
configurations for the MASTER device will be replicated to and the
device(s) that will take over in the event that the MASTER device
goes down.
Inserted IPs : All the primary IP addresses that
BACKUP device(s) are listening on. Not the virtual IP.
Note : The virtual IP on BACKUP device will remain unreachable as
long as the MASTER device is alive. This virtual IP will be
activated when status of the BACKUP device becomes MASTER. An email
will be sent when a device status change occures.
Remove : Click the IP in the box at the left. By
high lighting the one you want to remove, click the Remove button.
Disable FO : Disables Fail Over on selected
device only. If selected device is MASTER, the BACKUP device will
take over. Emails will be sent in this case stating a status change
on the BACKUP device. Click NEXT till you reach the last window
and click OK to reenable fail over on this device.
Status : This will give you the status of the
device as MASTER or BACKUP, if it's up and running, and the IP on
which it responds.
Recovering from a dead device : Connect to a
working device, all the configurations needed will populate the Fail
Over boxes you filled in previously. Do NOT close program. Click
the connect button and fill in the IP address you want to update the
fail over configurations. Verifiy the MASTER / BACKUP status, the
Priority and the device interface to reflect your needs. Click
OK. your done.
Trouble shooting : t
Virus protection Virus protection modules
have no configurable componants. The virus database is checked every
hour and updated if need. Every email is scanned and cleaned if
virus is detected before the email reaches the client program.
